"Image must be no larger than 2000 pixels." "Profile photo: 400 by 400." Every so often something demands an image at a precise size, and the photo straight off your camera is nowhere near it. Resizing is quick once you know the one trap to avoid.
The trap: aspect ratio
If you force a wide photo into a square without thinking, everyone in it gets stretched or squashed. Keep the aspect ratio locked and you change the size without distorting anything — the image just gets smaller or larger as a whole. Only turn that off when you genuinely need exact width and height and don't mind cropping or squishing.
How to resize
- Open the Image Resizer and drop in your picture.
- Type the width or height you need, with the aspect ratio locked so the other dimension follows automatically.
- Download the resized image.
One honest limit: making an image bigger than it started can't invent detail that was never captured, so blowing a small image up will look soft. Shrinking, on the other hand, almost always looks clean.
