A reversed PDF usually means a scan gone wrong — a stack of pages fed in bottom-first, so the document opens on its last page and runs backwards to its first. Reversing puts every page in the opposite order in one move, turning a back-to-front file the right way round.

Reversing has a second, sneakier use. When you scan double-sided pages by running the fronts, then flipping the whole stack to run the backs, that second file ends up reversed. Flipping it back into order is exactly what lets it interleave correctly with the fronts. So beyond rescuing a backwards document, reversing is a key step in reassembling a two-pass duplex scan.
