Putting each sentence on its own line makes text easier to work with in a surprising number of situations: editing, where you can see each sentence as a unit; translation, where lines pair up; subtitles and scripts; or feeding sentences one at a time into another tool. This breaks a flowing paragraph at its sentence boundaries so every sentence stands alone.

Spotting sentence ends
The tricky part is telling a real sentence end from a full stop that is doing another job — an abbreviation like Dr., a decimal like 3.5, an ellipsis. A good split recognises the difference so it breaks at genuine sentence endings and not in the middle of Mr. Smith. The result is a clean line-per-sentence layout that makes editing and reviewing far easier than a dense block.
