A sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs on your site, optionally with when each was last changed and how important it is. Search engines use it as a guide to discover pages they might otherwise miss — deep pages, new pages, anything not well linked from elsewhere. This builds a valid sitemap from your list of URLs, formatted the way search engines expect.

What a sitemap does and doesn't do
A sitemap helps discovery, but it is not a ranking tool and it does not force anything to be indexed — it is a suggestion, not a command. Include only the canonical URLs you actually want found, leave out redirects and noindexed pages, and keep it up to date as the site changes. Once it is live at your root, submitting it in Search Console tells Google exactly where to look.
Common questions
Will a sitemap improve my rankings?
Not directly. It helps search engines discover your pages, especially ones that are hard to reach, but it does not itself boost rankings.
Which URLs should I include?
Only the canonical pages you want indexed — leave out redirects, duplicates and noindexed pages.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The sitemap is built in your browser.
