Project Quote Calculator
Work out a project quote from your time estimate and rate.
Pricing a whole project
Quoting a project means turning your estimate of the work into a price, whether you bill by the hour or as a fixed fee. This works out a quote from your time estimate and rate, so you can price a project deliberately rather than plucking a number that feels about right.
Enter your estimated hours and rate to build the quote.
Estimate honestly, and consider value
Two things make project quoting go wrong. The first is underestimating the time — work almost always takes longer than the optimistic first guess, revisions and communication eat hours, and a quote based on the best case leaves you working for far less than your rate. Building in a realistic buffer is not padding, it is accuracy. The second is defaulting to hours when the value to the client is what matters: a project that saves or earns a client a great deal can justify a price well above the hours it takes, and pricing purely by time can leave money on the table. A good quote reflects both the honest effort involved and the value delivered.
Project Quote Calculator FAQ
Why do my project quotes come up short?
Usually underestimated time — work takes longer than the optimistic guess once revisions and communication are counted. Build in a realistic buffer.
Should I always quote by the hour?
Not necessarily — when a project delivers high value to the client, pricing by value rather than purely by time can justify a higher, fairer price.
